PROJECT 2025

Project 2025, a policy blueprint developed by the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups, includes several proposals that are viewed

as anti-LGBTQ+, particularly regarding LGBTQ+ families. These proposals aim to reshape federal policies in a way that prioritizes a traditional nuclear

family structure—defined strictly as one married man and one married woman with their biological children—as the foundation of government policy.

1. Redefining Family Structures: The project advocates for government policies that exclusively support and promote traditional nuclear families,

thereby marginalizing and excluding LGBTQ+ families from federal recognition and benefits. This includes discouraging adoption by

same-sex couples and cutting support for single-parent families.

2. Rolling Back LGBTQ+ Rights: The plan proposes repealing anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly in areas

such as housing, employment, and healthcare. It also seeks to eliminate federal funding for any initiatives that support LGBTQ+ rights or

provide gender-affirming care.

Update: Some Executive Orders signed by the federal government in 2025 and 2026 reflect aspects of the Project 2025 agenda on gender identity
and gender definitions, but not universally the entirety of its blueprint.
